It all works out in the end

I've been stressing about Mr. Caleb working in Eugene. It's 59 miles from our house, which makes for a long drive back and forth every day. A ton of miles on the car, gas, time away from home, blaaaa! I've been commuting too long and I didn't want Caleb to get home so late. Well..... now he doesn't have to. He just got offered to work for the same company in Albany. Which, is only 19 miles away from our new house. He just carved 80 miles round trip off his daily commute. Yeah for Caleb!! He won't start working until October so right now he is a stay-at-home-dad. I went back to work on the 1st of September and he has been home with the kids every day. I love to get messages from him about how he is barely surviving, the kids are going crazy, and he's super tired. I get home and on most days they are all in their pj's. However, last night I came home and everyone was dressed and he cleaned the house! If I could just get him to have dinner on table....h...

Caleb passes his boards!!

Since Caleb went down to USC to retake his boards, he has been very stressed out. He has been checking the WREB website every day to see if results were posted. Finally, today, they posted. He passed!! It only cost us a mere $3,000 for him to retake the boards. Just pocket change, right? He called his boss first thing today. It looks like he will probably still be working in Eugene for now. His boss doesn't really want him to have to commute, so he's keeping his eyes open for something closer to our home. We are just feeling blessed that they are still keeping him on contract even though he has been delayed work. I have been sick with mastitis the past few days and not up for much. But this news feels like it's healing me. I really want to see if I can get myself out of the house and go celebrate with Caleb.

Calvin updates

Calvin had his baby blessing on August 1st. We had a bunch of friends and family come to church with us to share the moment. He has the cutest little outfit that his Auntie Michelle bought for him. Calvin also had his 2 month check up. He has almost doubled his weight (so much for being a small kid). He started out 6 lbs 15 oz and he now weighs 13 lbs 8 oz.  He grew another 4.5" in height. And his head takes after his sisters. It's just like hers now, off the charts for size. It's not quite as big as Shelby's was at his age, but he's catching her pretty quick. We have been enjoying the summer together as a family. The blessing with Caleb not passing his boards is that we have a lot of time together. Caleb has been busy riding mountain bikes, fishing, working on his motorcycle, projects around our house, and remodeling his parents house. I have been taking the kids to the park, hanging out with friends and family, and trying to get used to having two kids. I s...

Updates

June was the craziest month I have had in a long time. I am soooo glad it's July! Caleb almost didn't graduate on time and had to pay for summer term. He had one crown that he had to do twice because the lab kept messing it up. The school finally notified us three weeks after graduation that he was OK to graduate and could come checkout. We found out Caleb didn't pass his boards completely and now gets to fly down to California in August to re-do part of it. He has to fly two different patients down too with him, once he finds them. Hopefully he can find one patient that needs both procedures to help save costs. His job in Eugene didn't workout since he didn't pass his boards. They needed someone to start immediately, so they gave it to someone else. The company, Capital Dental, still considers him employed and is keeping his contract. So he still has work, we just have no idea where it will be right now. Hopefully it will be somewhere close to this house we j...

Baby Calvin at the hospital, getting ready to go home. Caleb was at his graduation, so my wonderful sister came and helped us check out. Calvin was too tiny to fit into the car seat and I didn't remember his head support. Luckily the hospital gave us some extra blankets to use. He's so tiny! Shelby came to see me in the hospital every day. She was always happy to see me, but not so sure about this new baby brother that everyone is talking about. She refused to touch him, especially kiss him in the hospital. Once we got home, she started to warm up to him. Calvin is such a good kid. He sleeps anywhere and all the time. He also eats like a champ.  I love my little family!

Calvin Vernon Coombs

Tuesday after work Caleb came home we started working on house projects to get ready for his graduation party on Friday night. I was taking it pretty easy and just watching Shelby while Caleb hung curtains and towel racks. I kept telling Caleb that I was having contractions and he said that I needed to stop. He told me that his schedule was really busy and I wasn't allowed to have any contractions until Saturday at the earliest. While he finished working on projects I laid in bed and tried not to move. I tried drinking as much water as I could. Still....more contractions. Caleb continued to tell me about his school schedule this week, his graduation on Friday, and that this was just simply not going to work with him. I decided to get into our new fabulous huge tub and see if I could soak it off and Caleb went to bed. I wanted to have Caleb put air in our yoga ball, so he went and found the pump that had broke. It barely pushed out any air and got steaming hot from him trying to u...

New house

Image
It's official, I am a home owner. Our new house is amazing! Poor Shelby is not really sure what is going on. We painted inside the entire upstairs during the week and didn't move in any furniture. She was so tired that she went into my closet, used my work clothes and made herself a bed. After we finished painting, we moved in on Saturday. My family was a huge help and they unpacked and moved almost everything. Caleb and I are left with very little to finish up. We woke up on Sunday to our new house for the first time and it was awesome! Too bad Caleb and Shelby both got sick on Sunday and ended up throwing up most of the day. Blaaaa. Here is Shelby passed out on my bedroom floor. Caleb has given his self a very busy to-do list with the new house. He is going to build some stuff, clean some stuff, and design more stuff. It's going to be a good project for him as long as he doesn't burn out too soon. Here he is pressure washing the deck outside. We had tons of help m...
