Shelby Lu was blessed on Sunday Nov 30th by her dad. She was very quiet and looked beautiful in her little dress. She had a matching hat, but her head was too big to fit it. Caleb played the cello during church also and it was amazing. He's been practicing for awhile now and he played it flawlessly. It was such a fun holiday weekend!

Cousin Kenady loves to help Shelby get in her carseat. She is such a little helper.

We went to play with Erika's little boy Camden today and I think he had fun poking and touching her. It was pretty cute. Camden is a flirt and I can't wait until Shelby is old enough to be more entertaining for him. I think she wants to eat those almonds!

Caleb brushed her hair for the first time. We went to the store just to buy a brush so he could take care of her. I think she liked it.

Shelby went to church for the first time Nov 2nd. Here she is showing off her pretty dress that Grandma Coombs bought for her. She's pretty cute!

Caleb loves to see how many funny faces he can get Shelby to make. He is busy at school all day and comes home and holds her most of the night until it's time for bed. He is a great dad and Shelby loves to lay on him as he plays video games which makes them both happy.

Shelby Lu has many wonderful babysitters who come help me out so that I can get some sleep. Here are some pictures of my sister and her kids helping babysit. Rhoda only has five of her own children so she has plenty of time to come help me take care of my one child. Brynlee is 4 years old and Kenady is 10 months.

Labor started at 1:30 am the morning of October 16th. My scheduled induction was at 6 am. I prayed for weeks that I wouldn't have to be induced, and I guess I just needed to wait. I woke up to use the bathroom and had a contraction that was hard enough that I didn't make it to the bathroom. I don't know if I slept through the easy part or what. The first one I felt was painful. I went to bed and told Caleb that I was starting labor and he said, "Oh that's nice", and rolled over and went back to sleep. I timed the contractions at 7 minutes apart and continued to wake up Caleb with updates. He slept between every contraction and I kept asking him to keep the time, and well, he didn't. All those birth classes I drug him to with me.... and he sleeps. I called my sister and told her what was going on and she drove up to our house in Tigard with Kenady, her youngest daughter who is 10 months old. She helped me get comfortable and started timing my labor. Rhod

Pregnant with our first baby

Caleb and I decided it was time to start our family. We got pregnant over the Christmas break of 2007 (as best as we can tell). We are due sometime in October. They have changed the due date on us about 4 times and we are going with the latest date. I really want to deliver naturally, without any medication, so I am avoiding being induced at all costs. Caleb and I have been married since March of 2004. We currently live in Tigard, Oregon.  We will have our first child while he is in his second year of dental school at OHSU. I am working full time at SAIF Corporation in Salem as a Safety, Risk & Wellness Coordinator. I have been with the company since 2002, and I commute down to Salem. Here is a picture of us at a wedding in the summer of 2008. Caleb and I are truly excited to expand our family. We feel very blessed to have a healthy pregnancy. I slept all the time in the first trimester. Caleb thought something was wrong with me. I was teaching classes at the gym at 5:30 am, an

Surprise 30th

Caleb had me tricked into thinking I was going to Mindy's for a nice peaceful dinner. We got stuck in horrible traffic on the way down, but I wasn't too worried since it was just us. Then I got to her house and realized she had a bunch of people there and they were throwing me a surprise party. Tons of friends, food, and cute decorations. Thank you to Caleb for planning the fun evening, Mindy for opening her house to us and our friends, and to my family and friends who came to celebrate. You guys are very kind!

beach trip

We went to the beach because it was so hot, I couldn't get comfortable. It's been in the 90s and we only have AC in our bedroom. I didn't really want to spend the weekend in the bedroom so we headed out to the beach. It was fun hanging out in the nice cold weather, lots of sunshine and good food. We stayed late and watched the sunset curled up on the beach with some blankets. Sometimes the spontaneous trips turn out the best.
