Treehouse updates

We unveiled the treehouse to the kids at Christmas and it was a shell of the house. They were excited of course, but had no idea how we would finish it out. It's now super cozy, has tons of detail, and is nicer than the house we live in. If it had a toilet and a refrigerator, our kids would never come back inside. It's not completely done but it's pretty close. Here's some of the details of what we did.

Door we found at an antique shop, side windows are from friends, and the top window we bought. Corbels everywhere. Lantern lights, cedar shake up top and siding. The awning we added above the door to help with rain.

Bookshelves added in the loft upstairs for storage. The ceiling is rusted out corrugated metal that we washed and sealed.

Added some wainscoting by the front door to stop muddy shoes and boots from hitting the walls.

Caleb made the railing and ladder himself. We stained the inside, added fairy lights to the ceiling.

Carpet is upstairs in the loft only, hoping it can stay clean. The ceiling is pretty low so we doubled up on the carpet pad to make it more cozy for reading.

Railing for the outside porch that Caleb made. We drew up plans and he did the rest.

Another look at the windows bringing in so much light and the cool ladder attachment.

Pendant lights above, you can see some of the old door and different textures.
One of my personal favorites, is the tin ceiling we added below the loft. The tin came shiny and bright, so we antiqued it with some wax and love how it looks.

We still need railing down the steps outside, but the rest is done. It's gorgeous.

These kids are helping plan the fairy light install and also testing their fear with no ladder or railing. Don't worry, Ronin jumped down onto bean bags many times.

Inside of the door and it's amazing. We love the diamond cut windows that perfectly match the peak of the roofline.

Planning the steps and the landing for outside and finishing the siding. You can see the skirl siding we used on the sides of the treehouse. It's super rustic and looks like it belongs in the forest.

After the floor was installed for downstairs. Waterproof laminate flooring that will hopefully clean easy and keep it dry inside.
