16 years and counting

Caleb and I decided to get out of town and head to the mountain, just the two of us. We had no idea when we booked the weekend away that the entire world would be shutting down at the same time. We have the coronavirus right now spreading across America and when we booked it, it was only in Asia and not a huge concern. But as the weekend approached, people in the US were starting to get it in California. We decided to still get out of town.

We stayed up at the mountain, went snowboarding two days in a row at Mt Hood Meadows. The first day was fresh powder, about 7", sunshine, no wind. We went along the boarder and could see Timberline Lodge, and the most beautiful scenery. We had so much fun and went all day.

We came back to the hotel and barely convinced ourselves to go out to dinner. We drove around Government Camp area and came back and ate right next to our hotel. The food was good and we loved it. We stayed in our room making out, and woke up the next morning to super high winds at the mountain. We had to keep checking the forecast along with the website to be sure the mountain wasn't going to close on us. Since a lot of places were closing due to the virus, we weren't sure. But we lucked out, and when we came to the mountain the weather was actually nice. A little more powder and our bodies were so tired. We didn't realize how stiff we would be until we got back on the lift and took our first run.

We stayed the whole day, and they typically are open late on the weekends. But the mountain announced at noon they had to shut down at 4 pm. So we stayed the whole time until they closed. Then we headed to Portland and ate our favorite Thai food, the best ice cream ever, did some shopping, and didn't get home until super late.

We barely got our weekend away and we are so glad we did. Almost everything closed as we came back into town. We heard everyone was sold out of bread, eggs, milk, toilet paper. So we stopped out in Sandy and they still had supplies. We are glad we stopped and loaded the car up with food. We came home and now haven't been able to leave again. Schools cancelled, Caleb is being forced to close his doors. It's been an interesting time for sure.
