Let it snow!

We got snow earlier than usual this year and we were so excited. We didn't manage to get out of school or work this year, but at least we got a nice weekend of freezing cold snow free entertainment. Last year Shelby wanted to play in the snow for hours until she was frozen solid. This year it was Calvin. He would not come inside and wanted people to throw snow right at him.


 The snow was very dry and it was impossible to make a snowman. Calvin really wanted one, so Caleb made him a baby one that he proceeded to jump over 50X. You have to look pretty close to see the little guy. I don't think my kids know how big snowmen are usually supposed to be. 

 And of course, our annual gingerbread making night. We had over some of our good friends and there was a lot of candy, houses, sugar rushes, and building going on. It's so fun to see what everyone makes and how creative they get.

Now I have to show off my friends kids creations. Each of their houses tells you a little about them. If they are organized and want perfection, if they just want a load of candy to eat later, or if they are just crazy and have no reason to their madness. I'll let you decide who is who.

Calvin had a bad day

I got a call at work from Krista, the lady who watches my kids. She said Calvin fell and hit his lip and probably needed stitches. I picked up my purse and ran out of work as quick as I could. I was on hold for 15 minutes trying to reach his doctor, which was aggravating. But once they answered I was at Krista's door and could see what was going on. Calvin was playing in a bedroom, tripped, and fell onto the frame of the bunkbed. Which is metal by the way. The sharp edge of it too. Poor kid always falls, but usually it's the forehead that gets the brunt of it. This time it was his lip. The upper part of his gums really. You can see most of the cut here: We finally reached his doctor and took him in. They didn't give him stitches even though it was still bleeding. It's been 8 hours now and it still bleeds when he talks, eats or drinks anything. It has not stopped him from doing his sound effects for cars and trucks so he spits blood everywhere. June was the craziest month I have had in a long time. I am soooo glad it's July! Caleb almost didn't graduate on time and had to pay for summer term. He had one crown that he had to do twice because the lab kept messing it up. The school finally notified us three weeks after graduation that he was OK to graduate and could come checkout. We found out Caleb didn't pass his boards completely and now gets to fly down to California in August to re-do part of it. He has to fly two different patients down too with him, once he finds them. Hopefully he can find one patient that needs both procedures to help save costs. His job in Eugene didn't workout since he didn't pass his boards. They needed someone to start immediately, so they gave it to someone else. The company, Capital Dental, still considers him employed and is keeping his contract. So he still has work, we just have no idea where it will be right now. Hopefully it will be somewhere close to this house we j

Love/hate life

This year has been a very interesting year. Maybe this is how life goes when you're old. Some things are going very well for us and we could not be happier. And other things are just weird if not completely awful. One issue at a time here folks: My job- is the best job ever. Honestly, I have the best benefits and pay that I know of. For being a 33-year old female, I don't know too many other women who have the job of their dreams and the pay to match. I don't have to worry about money, I can afford to contribute a lot of money to retirement, and save for my kids college. I get to help employees at my work be safe on the job and healthy. We have changed peoples lives and I get kudos from employees regularly on how our program has helped make them a better parent. I rarely ever work overtime, and I get paid to travel around and speak at large events and share our company success. We have the best day care for my kids and they love being there so much that we usually never l
