17 years together

Caleb and I decided to celebrate our anniversary the exact same way we did last year. We started with a day in Portland. We shopped for our new house. We looked at furniture, lighting, appliances, you name it. So fun to get to build and come up with our new home style and feel. We ran into my cousin Cara and she recommended a place to eat. Oh man was the food amazing. We ate some great stuff and of course in a tent but it had lots of heaters so we were not cold. We went to a bar after and hung with one of his old dental student friends and caught up. Then we drove to the mountain and stayed up by Mt Hood. We woke up early and went to Mt Hood Meadows. Because of covid we had to get to the parking lot early and we were there by 7:15 and we were still able to park in the main lot kind of towards the front. Then we just hung out and waited for the mountain to open at 9. You can't even get your tickets redeemed until 8:30 so we just ate in the car and chilled. The sky was blue, there was almost no wind, groomed fast runs. Caleb and I felt like we snowboarded faster than we ever had in many years. We ripped down the mountain. At one point a skier boy who was no older than 8 didn't see me, I had barely gotten off the lift and he hit me blind from behind and I fell so hard. I was wearing my helmet but still blacked out and got whiplash and thought I broke my tailbone. Caleb couldn't see me because of the hill slope and he went looking for me so we got a little separated. Eventually we met back up and I was already felling a little better. We still rode the rest of the day until it closed at 4. He is so patient and easy going with me, he didn't care that I was a little slower after that. Luckily the wreck was at the end of the day too. That night we went out and ate an entire pizza, and yes, we could eat inside the restaurant so that was nice.

That night at our hotel there was almost nobody left since we stayed Sunday night to go snowboard on Monday with less people. For some reason there was the loudest people above us in the room upstairs. We even called to complain. The lady at the front desk went and talked to the people and they said it wasn't them but she said she could hear it from the hallway also. Either way she called me back 3 times and the phone kept waking Caleb up. The people woke up and were crazy loud at about 6 am. So we decided to sleep in and didn't go to the mountain right away. We were so tired! We went to Timberline on Monday and went out to breakfast before and did afternoon hours at the mountain. We ate a ton of food until we couldn't move and then went and rode the whole day. It's been over a decade since Caleb and I went to Timberline together. It was just like old times. He was landing everything he did that day and we just felt really good. He did some amazing jumps, there was 2" of new powder, sunny skies and again no real wind. The mountain was dead and we felt like we had the place to ourselves.

We stopped and did a little shopping and ate sushi on our way back home. We cannot believe how much fun we still have together. Time flies and we never have enough time. We could talk for hours. Caleb is super into 80s music right now so we got to sing along to all my favorite old tunes too. So fun! I love this guy and I can't wait to keep seeing what the future holds. Right now we feel so blessed and life is going so well. We just get a little worried about what may be next for trials because it feels too good to be true a lot of times. It's just been a really great year for us.
