Calvin is FOUR!

My little man is growing up. He had a big year this past year. Here are a few of his highlights:

  • He talks up a storm. He speaks so well that you would never know he struggled before. 
  • He memorizes things really fast. He has a favorite book and we had no idea that he had the whole thing memorized. We took a family trip to the beach and stayed in one room all together. As we were falling asleep he was reading the book to himself and I almost cried. It was so cute.
  • He graduated from preschool. He did so well in school and he absolutely loves going. I wasn't sure how he would do with school but he was awesome. 
  • He is part fish. As soon as the swim pool opened by our house he went straight to the diving board and jumped off. Thankfully he had a life jacket on. He thinks he can swim in the deep part but not without an adult in the pool with him. 
  • He sings songs all the time. He loves to learn new songs and make up his own. He even goes up in sacrament meeting for the children programs now. He was too shy to go before and now he goes. He won't sing when he's up there, but we don't care. He's too cute!
  • His eyes are starting to improve. His left eye was a negative 8 and now it's only a negative 6. I guess it pays to wear glasses all the time.
We had a red fire truck party for him. He was really torn on what theme he wanted this year and changed his mind many times. In the end it turned out super cute and he had a blast.

Calvin had a bad day

I got a call at work from Krista, the lady who watches my kids. She said Calvin fell and hit his lip and probably needed stitches. I picked up my purse and ran out of work as quick as I could. I was on hold for 15 minutes trying to reach his doctor, which was aggravating. But once they answered I was at Krista's door and could see what was going on. Calvin was playing in a bedroom, tripped, and fell onto the frame of the bunkbed. Which is metal by the way. The sharp edge of it too. Poor kid always falls, but usually it's the forehead that gets the brunt of it. This time it was his lip. The upper part of his gums really. You can see most of the cut here: We finally reached his doctor and took him in. They didn't give him stitches even though it was still bleeding. It's been 8 hours now and it still bleeds when he talks, eats or drinks anything. It has not stopped him from doing his sound effects for cars and trucks so he spits blood everywhere. June was the craziest month I have had in a long time. I am soooo glad it's July! Caleb almost didn't graduate on time and had to pay for summer term. He had one crown that he had to do twice because the lab kept messing it up. The school finally notified us three weeks after graduation that he was OK to graduate and could come checkout. We found out Caleb didn't pass his boards completely and now gets to fly down to California in August to re-do part of it. He has to fly two different patients down too with him, once he finds them. Hopefully he can find one patient that needs both procedures to help save costs. His job in Eugene didn't workout since he didn't pass his boards. They needed someone to start immediately, so they gave it to someone else. The company, Capital Dental, still considers him employed and is keeping his contract. So he still has work, we just have no idea where it will be right now. Hopefully it will be somewhere close to this house we j

Thanksgiving 2022

We came back to Sunriver with the Bingham's again for Thanksgiving weekend. This year we even convinced the Olsen's to join us. We got a sick house that fit us all perfectly. The weather was cold but sunny so we went for walks every day. It was too cold for bike rides. We did the typical Sunriver activities including eating a ton of food, playing games, and watching football all day. The kids went to K1 racing and raced go karts, which is a new favorite activity. Even Shelby loves it and it's hard to find activities she wants to do with us like that. I think we will definitely keep coming back each year as long as we can.
