Family Pictures

I just love my little family. My kids are pretty funny when it comes to pictures. Shelby won't get out of the way of the camera, and Calvin refuses to be in any picture at all. So we have a million pictures of Shelby and just a few of Calvin. I love the pictures and love the photographer we used this time too. I just love people who truly have an artistic eye, understand lighting and color, and don't have cheesy poses. I can't wait to use her again. Andrea Child is the photographer we used, and I definitely recommend her to others.

Coming soon, our baby boy!

We found out last month that it's a healthy baby boy. Calvin is beyond excited and Shelby finally is too. Shelby and Calvin both went to the ultrasound with Caleb and me and it was so cute. They loved to see the babies little hands, feet, and heart. Shelby was ver interested in the brain, which is typical Shelby. When they announced it was a boy, Shelby actually cried. She wanted a little sister so bad. Caleb and I weren't sure if she was being serious or joking but she really was sad. For the next three days she wouldn't talk about it and would get really upset all over again. And now, she's very excited and totally ready to be a big sister again. Caleb is not a very protective or worried husband. He always tells me that he knows I can handle myself and he loves how independent I am. However, my kids think I am a total baby and they are so worried about me all the time. If we go for walks, they tell me where to go to be safe. Shelby is always trying to feed me extr...

Calvin is FOUR!

My little man is growing up. He had a big year this past year. Here are a few of his highlights: He talks up a storm. He speaks so well that you would never know he struggled before.  He memorizes things really fast. He has a favorite book and we had no idea that he had the whole thing memorized. We took a family trip to the beach and stayed in one room all together. As we were falling asleep he was reading the book to himself and I almost cried. It was so cute. He graduated from preschool. He did so well in school and he absolutely loves going. I wasn't sure how he would do with school but he was awesome.  He is part fish. As soon as the swim pool opened by our house he went straight to the diving board and jumped off. Thankfully he had a life jacket on. He thinks he can swim in the deep part but not without an adult in the pool with him.  He sings songs all the time. He loves to learn new songs and make up his own. He even goes up in sacrament meeting for the chi...

So SICK

So far, so good. I am still pregnant and still trying to hide it from everyone. Although it's getting a lot harder to hide. I just don't have the heart to tell people if I end up with another miscarriage. The double dose of progesterone has made me so sick. I go to bed so early, and can't wait to lay down all day long at work. My poor kids just come lay down with me and ask if I'm still not feeling good. Caleb has been a true hero and is really stepping up and taking care of the house, kids, meals, and me. I can't wait to tell people why I've been so miserable. Still crossing my fingers!

Preschool for both kids

We were doing a home preschool program with Krista, the lady who watches our kids for the past few years. This year, Krista's youngest went to kindergarten and Shelby went to preschool. That left Calvin at her house alone during the day and he was soooooo sad about it. He begged me to go to school the whole first semester that Shelby went. It just broke my heart. Winter semester I decided to enroll him and see how he does. He's only three, but he's potty trained, a good listener, and is not afraid to go to class without his mother around. We just finished Shelby's first full year in preschool and Calvin's half-year. They had the cutest graduation party ever. Caleb and I took the morning off and spent it with the kids. After graduation we went to McDonald's play area and celebrated with a gross lunch. I can't stand the food there but the kids think it's a little slice of heaven. Shelby has learned all the sounds and letters in the alphabet now. She st...

Beach time

Image
We decided to get out of town at the last minute with our good friends Josh and Lindsey. Time to take the kids to the beach and the aquarium. The guys did some crabbing, girls did some shopping, and kids got sand in every body part you can think of. Last time we went to the beach it was pouring rain. This trip wasn't supposed to be very nice but it turned out gorgeous. There wasn't even enough wind to fly our kite. It was warmish, sunny, and very relaxing. We didn't even pack swimsuits because we thought it was be too cold. That didn't stop our kids from getting in the ocean! So glad we took the trip.

Mothers Day

The kids had the cutest program for all the moms this year at preschool. I went to the school and they had snacks, placemats, decorations, and we got to hang out with the kids for an hour. Unfortunately, I was out of town the week before so Calvin was really mad at me. He was so afraid that I was going to leave that he cried almost the whole time. Poor kid, I did feel bad. But it was pretty cute too. He sat on my lap and was just begging me to stay. I did stay, and then took the kids out for ice cream. He finally forgave me after the ice cream. That solves all his problems. Boy, can I relate to that! Shelby wrote: She is there when I need her Calvin wrote: because she's my mom.
