The Coombs Family

After begging Calvin to talk for years, we finally have a chatter box on our hands. Calvin will not stop talking. He has even started to tell us jokes. Here's a new favorite: Knock, knock Who's there? Toilet Toilet who? Toilet paper He tells that joke to me every day and he thinks it's hilarious.

Caleb and I went on a glorious motorcycle ride for my birthday this year and it was fabulous. I woke up and had pedicures with my friend Jenn. Then hit the road with Caleb for a five hour ride. Caleb has wanted to take me on this ride for awhile but after my arm surgery I couldn't ride that long. But he got me some new levers, new riding pants, a new rear-end blinker and brake combo, sliders for my engine, and he lowered my seat. This man loves to work on motorcycles and I could probably talk him into any little project for my bike. He loves it. We dropped off the kids with my mom. The kids were very excited to spend the day with Granny. Caleb was excited to spend the day on the bike. And I was excited to spend a day lost in my thoughts. It's almost like running in a way. You have to think about what you're doing, but you also get a lot of time to get in your head, or get out of your head. Many of our family members know that we are struggling to have a third child. After two years of trying, two miscarriages, and still no child, I took a few tests and started looking into it. I'm still not sure what I am willing to do and how much I want to mess with things, but the initial testing seems pretty harmless.  So far I was just taking my temperature to track my ovulation and went in for a blood draw to make sure my hormones were normal. My temperature wasn't changing as it should and when we got the blood work back it said I'm not ovulating at all. I have no idea why that would happen but I do know that it's not normal.  I went in to see a new doctor, because mine was gone for about a month and I am TIRED of waiting. Well the new doctor sucked. She basically said that she won't give me medication to make me ovulate because I have been pregnant 4 times in the past 5 years, so I don't have a problem getting pregnant. Another birthday for Calvin marking great success and growth this year. He is talking a lot more now and we have been calling him Repeater. Everything we say he copies and he's learning new phrases all the time. It's funny how we begged him to talk for so long and now he won't stop talking. We are so grateful that he is developing and learning all the time. Over the past 6 months he has become more obsessed with trucks, construction, trains, and anything with wheels. He loves to watch a show called Mighty Machines, which is real construction videos with lots of trucks. For fun, we take him to a construction site where they are working and he will just watch. It's cheap entertainment and his favorite thing to do. Holidays are so much fun with kids. Now that our kids are old enough to remember the holidays they have a lot of expectations. Luckily, they are always met or exceeded with grandparents. Caleb and I aren't big on candy and presents. It seems like kids think that every holiday means they need to get hopped up on sugar and demand gifts. We just like to take it easy and roll with it. Easter for us means finding eggs. The eggs can have a penny, a rock, a piece of candy, or nothing. They honestly don't care. They want to find the eggs, hide the eggs again, and then go find them again. We have been doing egg hunts for years at my parents house and this year the weather was amazing and we got our hunt on. We had our nephew Isaac and his mom Alise staying with us during the holiday so they joined in the fun too. Isaac was a natural egg finder. It's in the genes. I can't believe how fast the years have been going by lately. Caleb and I nearly didn't make it to celebrate this year because it snuck up on us. We were both in bed with the flu last week and it was miserable. By Thursday night we could finally eat again and we were suppose to go out on our weekend getaway on Friday. We decided that we had to go. Rescheduling is too hard, he had the time off work, we had the babysitter lined up, and we needed to get out! It had been too long after my surgery, secondary infection, and the flu to boot. Caleb called his friends the Blodgett's and asked for a favor. I looked online and every place we wanted to go had no vacancy for the weekend. We didn't want to go too far since we only had two nights. His friends have an amazing house in Bend and they let us stay there. I still can't believe they said yes. My cousins all came to town last weekend to celebrate the life of Frances Bergevin. She is my mothers-sister-mother-in-law. She lived with my aunt for the past 15-years and my aunt lives right next to my parents house. We grew up with Grandma Frances and she always came to every family event we had. She was a wonderful woman with a tremendous testimony. It was great having my cousins in town and we got to play a lot. Motorcycle rides, going to the park, riding the horses at the carousel, hiking at Silver Falls park, eating a lot of food, birthday party, fake photo shoots, having a music night, and just catching up. I wish all my cousins didn't live in Utah. We have so much in common with them and I wish we saw them more.
