Easter 2011

Image
This year we went to my parents house for our Easter celebration. My sister came out with her kids and my brother Roger was there with his fiance Angela. We had homemade rolls, ham, salad, potatoes, and green beans. For dessert we kept it light with some cookies and awesome mint brownies. My mother got each of the kids a book and some marshmallow candy thing. The kids each loved their book. She personalized each of them for all her grandkids.   We tried to get a family picture, but the kids just wanted to get down and keep playing.  Great Grandma Letha made some hats for my kids. As you can see, their heads are far too wide, and not quite tall enough to fit. It sure was funny stretching that hat to get it over Calvin's big head. Silly boy.  The highlight each Easter is the egg hunt. Between rain showers, Caleb and Logan ran outside and hid the eggs. We thought that Shelby wouldn't remember from last year so we gave her and Kenady a head start. That wasn't really neces

Calvin learns some new tricks

Image
Calvin decided last Friday that he can crawl now. He saw my laptop on the ground and made a dash for it. It was so cute. He keeps falling and crashing on his forehead, but he will eventually make it across the room. I was just posting about how he wasn't crawling, and a couple of days later he is doing it. Silly boy. He does the same crawl that Shelby did, up on his knees and hands. He never did the army crawl that I know a lot of babies do. After he learned how to crawl he decided that now he can also stand up. He loves to pin himself between our ottoman and our chair in the living room. He bounces back and forth until he eventually falls. He can stand for about 30 seconds without touching anything. He's very pleased with himself and laughs a lot when he does it. You can probably see all the bruises on his forehead from the crashing. I'm not ready for my baby to be standing or crawling. I really have enjoyed my little man and his cute snuggles. I am very excited that h

Comparing my kids

Image
I know you're not suppose to compare your kids, but come on! I'm not afraid to admit it. Shelby started walking at 9 months Calvin at 10 months scoots around sitting up and doesn't crawl Shelby wouldn't sit on my lap and cuddle from about 3 months old and older Calvin  at 10 months still loves to rock and be held and snuggle Shelby woke up every 3 hours to nurse at night until she was almost one year Calvin started sleeping through the night around 7 months (bless his heart) Shelby has curly hair and huge hazel eyes Calvin has very straight hair and beautiful blue eyes How can I possibly have two kids so different from each other? I love their little personalities and I love how different they are. Shelby grew up very fast, which was a lot of fun, and very challenging. Because Calvin has been slower to learn new things, he's this precious little baby to me still and growing at the perfect pace. Here's a picture of Shelby at 7 months and Calvin at 1

Sunriver getaway

I absolutely love our trips to Sunriver, Oregon. We made the trip over with our family of four and our little children slept the whole way there. It was very sunny and warm the first day, and cold and snowing the second, and then warm again the last day. We went for a few walks around the neighborhood.  Played in the hot tub. Calvin loved it and wanted to just lay on his back and float around the entire time. Shelby was mostly just bossy and wanted Caleb to throw her around.  We fed the ducks. Shelby got a goose to eat some of Calvin's crackers.  There were about 45 elk destroying the golf course. Caleb and Shelby got pretty close to them. Shelby started to cry when we left. She kept asking to see the elk again. It wasn't until we saw a patch of snow that she could play in that she forgot about the elk.  Playing at the park. The kids still love the swings the most out of all the toys. Calvin was really tired and tried falling asleep in the swing.  We took a really long way hom
